Economic Focus – United States of America

According to CNN, the economy in the United States has shed 232,000 jobs in the first three months of this year.

The job losses were widespread,

construction sector – 51,000 jobs

manufacturing sector – 48,000 jobs

Retail employment dropped -12,000 jobs

business and professional service employers – 35,000 jobs

The widespread loss of jobs is the latest sign that the economy has slipped into recession.
