Quotes from Yuuko Ichihara! A Taoist/Zen Master?

~ Yuuko and Clow Reed together with Mokona Modokis

There are many unusual things in this world. Everyday, events occur that cannot be explained. Bizarre phenomena that often goes unnoticed because people close their eyes to what they don’t understand. But the truth of the matter is: there are many unusual things in this world, and people, people are the most mysterious of them all.

Because this is inevitable. You came here to inquire about something. This meeting had to happen and it was always going to happen like this.

There is no such thing as coincidences in this world. There is only the inevitable.

There is no such thing as coincidence and happenstance. Everything is inevitable whether you know it or not.

When a service is rendered, a compensation is required to complete the transaction. The payment must be of equal value to that service. There can be no deficiency or excess, only perfect balance, or harm will be done.

Our meeting was destined and the ties are formed. It does not matter how brief an encounter it is. When two people meet, they affect each other. The meeting will change their lives in some ways and ties will form between them. There is meaning to everything that happens in our lives, no matter how small they may seem, and so there is meaning to our meeting today.

Even if it does not appear to be a significant matter from one’s perspective, from another perspective, it is a huge incident.

Humans are strange creatures, even though from one person’s perspective something may seem unfortunate to another it might bring them happiness.

Do you think that something thrown out easily can be exchanged for something important?

You don’t only belong only to yourself. There isn’t anything in the world that belongs only to yourself. Everyone has connections with someone else and shares something with them through these connections. That is why you can never be free.

Before you even begin looking you were already foiled in your search. Living beings can be bound by so many different things. The so called natural laws, the set passage of time, the vessel you think of as your body, the spirit/ego you think of as your mind. These are the things that bind all living things. These are the bonds to which you cannot break free. There is one chain humans can wield all by themselves. Words. Once they have escaped a person’s lips, they can never be returned. Once heard, they cannot be ignored. Still people throw them out far too lightly, often unaware. Words are alive and their power can set the course of a person’s future. The words we speak are not the only ones that binds.

Most of the time no one is as good or as bad as we think they are. She has to discover her flaw by herself. She has an infinite amount of chances. Any choice you make can change your future. In this world, there is only one possible path for all of us but it contains an infinite number of possibilities. As long as you know that this world is only what you choose to make of it, you can have any future you want.

The present world is a dream. Dreams at night are the truth.

The desire to change must come from within or you will inevitably fail. You need to convince yourself. Sometimes you must put yourself first to help those you love. Learn to make your own decisions instead of relying on others to make them for you.

Names are more important than you expect. Naming something empowers it.

People are always more likely to do something once it has been forbidden. And after they have crossed that line, there is no telling what else they are capable of doing to get what it is they want. The things that a person wish for often reveal more of them than they like.

A picture always reflects the past. It captures a moment in time and reflects it honestly. At times a photo even reflects the things you don’t want to see.

If you believe it was destined to happen it is most likely to happen, if you believe nothing has been decided then most likely nothing has been decided

If you’ve decided that you can’t do it even before you act, you have already made it into something impossible.

~ Yuuko as seen in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles
