DAY 202: JULY 21 – If It Isn’t Broke, Don’t Fix It?

~ A Bar at the Folies-Bergere by Edouard Manet

The barmaid stands facing the viewer. But is there a mirror behind her? The lady whose back is visible to the right seems to be the reflection of the barmaid.

Everything profound loves the mask.

~ Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

It is only the shallow people who do not judge by appearances.

~ Oscar Wilde

What Happened

1798: Napoleon defeats the Egyptians at the Battle of the Pyramids.

1899: Birth of American novelist Ernest Hemingway.

Writer’s Addendum

Appearances are deceiving. Especially the politician in a nice three piece suit and a bow tie. He probably bought that nice suit with all the money ‘stolen’ from the people.

When it comes to politics, the world works in this manner: if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it?

But that is exactly the problem! If you wait to the economy is broke there is no fixing it in the short-term. People across the globe need to ensure that governments are accountable to their people. Prevention is always better than cure.

Say no to corruption, misuse of power, and tyranny. When your baby’s diapers are dirty, you change it. So change your dirty politicians.
